Dr. Jim Pyle

Thirty years after graduating from dental school, Dr. Jim Pyle still lights up when he talks about the procedures that change a patient’s daily life. Restoring comfortable chewing. Relieving long-standing pain. Rebuilding a smile someone has been hiding for years. Those moments, he says, are why he became a dentist in the first place, and they are why he still loves coming to the office every morning.
His foundation was built at the University of California, San Francisco, where he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery in 1994. Rather than step straight into private practice, he chose a more demanding path and completed a comprehensive hospital residency at the University of North Carolina. There, he rotated through oral surgery, pediatrics, anesthesia, prosthodontics, and the care of medically compromised patients. That hospital-based training gave him a breadth of experience most general dentists never have the chance to develop, and it still shapes the calm, thoughtful way he approaches every case at our Raleigh, NC practice today.

Dr. Pyle is also a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry, a distinction earned by only a small percentage of general dentists nationwide. Fellowship requires hundreds of hours of advanced coursework and a rigorous examination, and it reflects his lifelong belief that great dentistry is never static. There is always something new to learn, and his patients benefit from that curiosity every time they sit in his chair.

When he is not at the office, he is a devoted family man who loves skiing fresh mountain snow and hiking through the national parks that stretch across the country.
