GET TO KNOW DR. LALITA NEKKANTI
Born in New Jersey and briefly raised in India, I had several cavities growing up. Once I returned to NJ, I had my cavities filled at my local dentist. Personally, I was always scared before dental visits. My dentist, however, always had a way of calming me before appointments and making me as comfortable as possible.
I decided to become a dentist based on my own experiences as a patient. My childhood dentist inspired me to enter a profession where I would serve a community in need and in fear of dental care. I hope to engage my patients in their treatment and reduce their anxiety from dental procedures at Raleigh Dental Arts.
I attended Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts where I obtained my Doctor of Dental Medicine. After Tufts, I attended a two-year general practice residency at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans. After residency, I have been in private practice mastering the art of dentistry.
Training has provided extensive continuing dental education. I continue to learn about the latest technology and advanced techniques to improve the patient experience. I also enjoy learning and expanding the scope of dentistry I practice. Some of my favorite continuing education courses revolve around CEREC same day crowns, Invisalign, molar root canals, implant placement, veneers, and cosmetic procedures.
I have lived in several parts of the country but I am excited to call North Carolina home. I used to play varsity tennis in college and play noncompetitively now. I am currently getting my 200 hour yoga teaching certification. I also enjoy, biking, hiking, reading, cooking, eating, and exploring new spots in the city with my husband Amol.
